Location: Covers the outer portion of the cerebrum. It is often referred to as gray matter.

Function: It is the most highly developed part of the brain and is responsibile for thinking, perceiving, producing, and understanding language. It is also the most recent structure in the histroy of brain evolution.

What would happen if the Cerebral Cortex did not work: impairments in perceptions ( vision, audition, olfaction, proprioception,), language, memory, and decision making.

Three interesting facts:
1. It is seperated into two different hemispheres the left and right side.
2. It is about 2-4mm in thickness.
3. It has about a billion neurons in it.
